It is with great pleasure to announce, today is the official day where 1CMS FM and two other community radio stations (ArtSound FM and 1Way FM) in Canberra are broadcasting from a new transmission site at Poppet Hill, east of Canberra at the edge of the Kowen Forest near the ACT/NSW border.
We are proud to be part of a consortium led by ArtSound’s General Manager Chris Deacon who has been prime mover and manager of this project on behalf of all the stations involved, and the switch from Black Mountain Tower will be the culmination of many years of hard work by Chris, Colin and others.
The new site offers a number of attractions – it is more affordable, it is slightly higher than Black Mountain, and a brand new antenna system means that we will be able to broadcast a more powerful signal to the majority of listeners in the ACT.
The frequencies won’t change, and nor will the location of our radio station at Grant Cameron Community Centre in Holder. Black Mountain will continue to be used as an essential relay point facilitating our main program link to the new site.
We’ll be making a public announcement accordingly, and members and other listeners will be invited to submit reception reports.
